My Customer's Avatar
Here’s the avatar
for the prototypical customer of my 3-D Print Café:
Even though
this type of establishment would attract people of all ages, the largest segment
will be between ages 18 and 25. These people will most likely be enrolled in
engineering or design-related programs. They may have hobbies such as building
models of planes, trains, cars, robotics, etc. They are someone who enjoys
fixing things. They seem to prefer cars that are highly functional and
reliable, often leaning towards cars that are manufactured in Japan. They like
shows like MythBusters MegaStructures, Star Trek, Cosmos, and e2, and they enjoy
movies such as October Sky. Most of these people will not have children since
they are still relatively young. They will likely be slightly more conservative
than the average person. They would enjoy books like The Design of Everyday Things, Ender’s Game, The Existential Pleasures
of Engineering, etc. I believe their most common underlying personality
trait is a desire to solve problems, improve daily life, or improve life for
future generations. They are likely to be interested in environmental
sustainability.
Some aspects
that I have in common with this target market include my age as well as my
interest in cars, movies, shows, and a desire to ensure sustainability for
future generations. However, I do not enjoy building or fixing things, and I
would consider myself more independent than conservative. In my opinion, the
commonalities are not a coincidence because I am highly fascinated by the
sciences, and most of the customers of this café will be engineers and
designers, who also tend to be more interested in scientific, analytical and
rational topics.
